Vice President-Elect Mike Pence confirmed on Sunday that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is under “active consideration” for the Secretary of State position. Followed a meeting between President-Elect Trump and Romney, one of his fiercest GOP critics, on Saturday. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani reported to still be in the running as well. Both Trump and Pence also spoke highly of retired Marine General James Mattis, who Trump also met with on Saturday and is widely reported to be considering for Secretary of Defense. Trump brought in a number of investment executives this weekend to talk about the Treasury Secretary job. However, WSJ said Trump appears likely to choose between investment banker Steve Mnuchin, who served as the campaign’s finance chairman, and Texas Representative Jeb Hensarling. Mnuchin is still seen as the front runner, though while seen as a longshot, Trump is said to still be drawn to JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon.
